Why Credentials Matter in This Industry
Biohazard and trauma remediation is not general cleaning. Blood, bodily fluids, mold, and other biological contaminants carry genuine health risks — including bloodborne pathogens (HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C), mycotoxins from mold, and bacterial contamination from human waste. Improper cleanup doesn't eliminate these risks; it redistributes them.
New York State requires specific DOL and DEC certification for companies performing this work legally. OSHA mandates documented bloodborne pathogen training for all workers with potential exposure. IICRC certification requires adherence to published remediation standards that define how containment, removal, disinfection, and disposal must be conducted to actually solve the problem — not just make it look solved.
Insurance carriers increasingly require documentation that work was performed by a certified company following recognized standards. A claim submitted without proper credentials or documentation is a claim that can be denied.
